Native Sons of the Golden West
The Charitable Foundation, Native Sons of the Golden West, is a separate, non-profit corporation, in the State of California. The Charitable Foundation was incorporated in November, 1951 with the intention of supporting a cause in need. The Native Sons became aware of an underfunded clinic in San Francisco that treated primarily very young children born with a cleft lip/palate. Because this type of birth defect, the second most common, has such an emotional as well as physical impact on the child, its parents, family and friends, the Native sons chose it as its exclusive charity. Since that time it has supported the Craniofacial Anomalies Clinics of Saint John's Health Center, in Santa Monica, California, the University of California, San Francisco, Hospital, and Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento, California.
All Charitable Foundation funds donated to these hospitals go directly to the treatment of the children, with no overhead costs, with the agreement that no child will be refused treatment for any reason. The Charitable Foundation also has been able to make application for funds for equipment to the Frank J. Marini Family Trust. The opportunity to petition the Marini Trust is alternated between the three hospitals. The Board of Directors of the Charitable Foundation feels there is no more worthy cause than to ensure that all children, of whatever race, color, or creed, have the opportunity to hold their head up, without shame or embarrassment.
All donations to the Charitable Foundation of the Native sons of the Golden West are fully tax deductible. Any questions about the Foundation please contact Donald E. Madsen, 4327 Veronica Ave. Castro Valley, California 94546.
